Set back from the hustle and bustle of large retail stores on Bishop Boulevard sits locally-owned Wild Ivy, a place where "home and garden come together."

Cynthia Garrett has owned the Pullman store and Flowers and More in Colfax for ten years.

“It was a natural progression for us to expand to a second store,” she said. “I love what I do. I love pretty things, I love working with people, I like working with home décor.”

For the day of romance, Wild Ivy will also have a cooler of fresh flowers in the store. They also deliver to places in the area.

To prepare for their busiest day of the year, Garrett said they usually order roses in January. While they offer a variety of gifts for guys to get their loved ones, Garrett said a dozen red roses is still the most popular, alongside balloons and teddy bears.

Ashley Weyerts, a sales associate at Wild Ivy, weaves around the decorative items of the store to reach popular Valentine's gifts.

Weyerts said guys still looking for something for that special someone should pick from their collection of Vera Bradley, a line of colorful accessories including wallets, purses, and backpacks. She said she would love to get something from this line.

She also said guys are a bit harder to shop for, but Wild Ivy carries something for them too. Bissinger's handcrafted chocolates are liquor filled, giving the typical box of chocolates a more masculine twist.

“Jewelery is always popular,” she said. “We carry Brighton which has a lot of heart shapes, WSU-themed gifts for guys . . . bath goodies for the ladies. By far the tradition is a dozen or half a dozen roses.”

Garrett said she and her husband have worked to get people what they want for any occasion. They hope to accomplish this by having something at all price ranges, high customer service and complimentary gift wrap, she said.

“We want to do our best to meet our customers' needs,” she said. “Whether it be fresh flowers, plants, home decor, gifts, something just to brighten their day. I want them to leave happy.”

If you still need to get that special someone a special treat, Wild Ivy is located at 275 SE Bishop Blvd., just down the street from Walmart. If you're in Colfax and want to visit Garrett's store there, it's at 222 S Main St.
