Pedestrians should be paying more attention

Please. Pay attention.

I witnessed a student nearly get hit by a car whose driver was not paying attention. Do we all need to go back to kindergarten and re-learn how to cross the street? We can skip the holding hands part, but looking and double checking that cars are indeed stopping for you is important.

Yes, there are signals to use on some crosswalks, but not all. There’s no guarantee that vehicles can stop or that they even noticed you.

I am so glad that the pedestrian didn’t have his music so loud that he couldn’t hear me yell. Turn down your music; stop looking at your phone even if only long enough to cross the street.

And drivers, if you want to be a tourist, go park and take yourself on a walking tour. You can’t afford to not pay attention on streets on campus.
